Bond Updates as of December 2007
FIRE STATION 2
One of the propositions on the ballot April 4, 2006 was for $1,200,000 for a new fire station. The station was planned at the same location as the old fire station.
The new fire station is well under construction and is 95% complete. The station should be completed by November of this year. Move in date will be around the end of November. The construction cost is currently estimated to be $1,488,720. The cost increases have occurred because building costs have dramatically increased during the last couple of years. However, the cost per square foot is at $174, which is less than neighboring communities have experienced with their fire station costs during that same time period. A few examples: City of Tulsa, Station No. 9, which was bid about eighteen months ago, cost $210 per square foot. City of Tulsa, Station No. 16, which is just now beginning construction, costs $231 per square foot.
The cost increases over the amount from bond proceeds will be paid from the General Fund.
Watch for our Dedication/Open House of Fire Station #2 in the coming months.
